Head Students Inspire Merstham Primary Pupils With a Glimpse Into Life at Merstham Park School
Our Head Students and Senior Prefect Team had the pleasure of visiting Merstham Primary School to speak with the Year 6 pupils about what life is really like at secondary school—specifically, here at Merstham Park School.
The visit was part of our ongoing commitment to supporting local primary schools and helping younger students feel confident and excited about the transition to secondary education. Our student leaders delivered an engaging and honest presentation, sharing their personal experiences, challenges, and proudest moments since joining MPS.
The Year 6 pupils heard about everything from navigating new routines and building independence to joining clubs, meeting new friends, and discovering subjects they hadn’t experienced before. The Head Students also highlighted the supportive environment at MPS, where teachers, pastoral staff, and older students work together to ensure everyone feels welcome from day one.
Following the presentation, the Year 6s had the opportunity to ask questions—and they certainly didn’t hold back! From “How much homework do you get?” to “What’s your favourite part of the school day?” our prefects answered each one with openness and encouragement, helping to break down common fears about starting secondary school.
The session ended with the pupils feeling reassured, motivated, and excited about the opportunities that await them. Our student leaders represented Merstham Park School with maturity and pride, acting as fantastic role models for the next generation of MPS learners.
We look forward to welcoming many of these Year 6 pupils in September and supporting them as they begin their secondary school journey.
