GCSE History Trip to London
Our GCSE History students enjoyed a fantastic trip to London last week, exploring two brilliant sites that brought their course to life. They began at the Old Operating Theatre — the oldest surviving operating theatre in Europe — where they learned about early surgery, medical tools and the realities of treatment before modern anaesthetics. This linked perfectly with their Medicine Through Time studies and gave them a vivid sense of how far medical practice has developed.
In the afternoon, students stepped aboard Elizabeth I’s Golden Hinde, gaining insight into life at sea during the Elizabethan era. The tour supported their Elizabethan England unit, helping them understand exploration, naval power and daily routines on a Tudor ship.
It was a lively, engaging day that deepened their knowledge and sparked plenty of thoughtful discussion back in class.
