Consultation on Admissions Arrangements 2027/2028
Merstham Park School is a secondary school within GLF Schools. The school is consulting on a proposed change to its admissions arrangements for the academic year 2027/28.
Draft admissions arrangements 2027-2028
Proposed Change
For entry into Year 7 in September 2027, we propose reducing our Published Admission Number (PAN) from 180 to 150 pupils.
Why Are We Proposing This Change?
Currently, Merstham Park School operates with a PAN of 180, but actual Year 7 intake has consistently been around 150 pupils. For example:
- September 2024: 151 pupils
- September 2025: 148 pupils
First preference applications have remained stable at approximately 115, with additional places filled through central allocations. Local authority forecasts indicate a continuing surplus of secondary school places in the Reigate and Banstead area for the next decade, with at least two forms of entry surplus each year. This means demand for places at Merstham Park is unlikely to reach the current PAN of 180 in the foreseeable future.
Reducing the PAN will ensure efficient use of resources and support stability in staffing and class sizes, enabling better targeted interventions and improved outcomes for pupils.
This change will not affect the breadth of the curriculum offered at Merstham Park School.
Consultation Period
The consultation will run for six weeks, starting on 8 December 2025 and closing on 19th January 2026.
